Shoot Like A Girl –
SLG2, INC. Shoot Like A Girl was established in 2008 and launched in 2019 with a mission to grow the number of women who participate in shooting sports by empowering them with confidence. The first five years focused on archery. The concept was if women could try to shoot a bow, they would love the feeling they get from shooting and join the sport. They developed a process called Test Shots™, and in five years, Shoot Like A Girl put bows in the hands of nearly 3,500 women and grew the number of women archers!

December 2013, Shoot Like a Girl added Firearms Test Shots™ where women can shoot a 9mm pistol, .223 rifle with the use of a military-grade firearms simulation system. They continued their Test Flights™ program with a live archery range. The trailer highlights the fact that shooting sports is a viable option for people with physical challenges and/or regardless of physical fitness level.

Since 2008, their impact on the shooting sports industry has totaled over $74 million and continues to increase. Well over 18,000 women have participated in the program as of July 31, 2018.

Multus
Multus is created by Joe Porche. Joe has worked in orthopedics and pain management for twenty years. He believes that many injuries can be prevented, so he has designed the only closed-loop handle with a locking removable peg on the market. It is the most useful and versatile handle for the sportsman. With the Multus Deer Drag, your hunting experiences can be improved.

Mike, how long has your company been coming to ATA?

We’ve been coming here for 22 years.

It's okay to be nervous when shooting because there should be a healthy fear of these firearms. Click To Tweet

Is it a family business?

WTR Grandview | Shooting SportsIt’s not a family business. It’s owned by COLE Publishing out at Three Lakes, Wisconsin.

How long have you been with them?

I’ve been with the company for going on 23 years.

That’s a long time. Do you ever get out hunting or fishing or outdoor sports?

I do like the outdoors. I’m a more of a fisherman. I do like to fish.

You’re Rippin Lips?

Yes.

WTR Grandview | Shooting SportsI met up with Mike at ATA 2019. I enjoyed the gentleman and I always love coming to ATA to meet new people that you never knew before. Mike, thank you so much for taking a couple of minutes with Whitetail Rendezvous.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

ATA Day 2 – 2: Shoot Like A Girl

I am with Jeanine Sayre and Shoot Like A Girl. What’s that all about, Jeanine?

Thanks so much for coming and hanging out with this for a little while. We are Shoot Like A Girl and we introduced ladies to shooting sports all over the country. Our mission is to empower women to participate in shooting sports with confidence and that is what we do truly. Behind me is our mobile range and inside on one end, we have a live archery range. On the other end, we have a military grade simulation system where ladies shoot an actual rifle and an actual pistol. The insights have been reworked, so it shoots 85% true recoil of compressed air rather than a projectile. Our mission is to let these women have a taste of what it’s like to stop, take a breath, focus on the target, and hit it because you and I both know that there’s nothing like that. That’s the best feeling in the entire world.

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

Who is the CEO of Shoot Like A Girl?

Karen Butler is the Founder/President of Shoot Like A Girl. We’re celebrating our tenth year in business this year. We’ve come a long way and we are very proud and very excited to be doing that where the company started, which is the archery industry.

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

Hats off to you gals for what you’re doing.

This is our military grade simulation system and this is where ladies will shoot the pistols and an AR platform rifle. A lot of the ladies that come through here, not only have they not touched a firearm or never shot when they’ve never touched one. This is the first step. I’ll tell you this, I’m the marketing and retail director here, but my favorite thing about this job is the smile on the ladies’ faces when they leave our rage because that is 100% guarantee. If you turn around this way, this is our live archery range where we have a variety of those and the ladies can get a taste of different manufacturers and truly find what’s perfect for them.

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

Let’s call one of the ladies up here and have them too. Ladies, who are you?

This is Leslie. She is one of our archery instructors as she actually travels the ASA Circuit and she does a fabulous job. Krista is one of our firearms instructors. We’re going to have a little bit of fun here and mix the two.

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

Have you shot before? This is the second time. We got excited. This is the release and it has a trigger. What happened? This is an arm board. I’m going to put that on that arm just to protect your arm from the string. I’m going to have my hands on you at all times. I’m going to have you turn and face me and then we want to make sure when got the arrow, we always hear that click. It assures us that arrow is attached and all that energy is going to go out the air. We’re going to take this thing and hold it. We’re going to run it down that last line of our pin. We’re going to bring this up here. We’re going to open that release and we’re going to attach it to that. It takes coordination. We’re going to always keep that finger value triggers. Long fingers back there and we’ll go off. This arm is going to push this arms fold. One, two, three. Here we go. Bring it up a little bit and then when you get ready, slowly pull the trigger lock with the turnaround.

What we just do?

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

Our firearm instructor just shot a bow for the second time.

What would you say to the ladies out there?

I would say I understand the apprehension. I understand the nervousness and that’s okay because there should be a healthy fear of these firearms, however, you are in control and I promise you if you just give it a try, take a girlfriend out who knows what they’re doing and let them teach you the safety and the procedures. You will have a blast, no pun intended.

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

How do people get a hold of you on social media or your website?

ShootLikeAGirl.com has all of our information. We’ll be traveling from Washington all the way to New Jersey and everywhere in between so we very well could be coming to a city near you. We’ll be announcing our schedule for 2019 on Facebook, but you can get to all of that from our website.

You are in control of your apprehensions. Click To Tweet

Thank you so much, Jeanine. You’ve been a wonderful host.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hanging out with us.

ATA Day 2 – 2: Multus

I’m still at ATA 2019. I’m with Joe and Christine Porche. They’re with Multus. It’s their company.

Here’s our list of products under the title Multus for making the work after the Achilles. What we designed in one product, the easiest and fastest way to handle a deer. The harder to design is behind the handle. It’s a nice comfortable handle for grabbing things. There are locking removable pigs. You could interchange the straps. The nice part about it, you can pass the handle through the strap and attach any part of the deer quick and fast. It’s about protecting your back and your shoulder. We also have it you can use it for small game. You can reduce the strap within the handle to where if you’re toting a turkey over your shoulder. You can also tote the turkey hands-free. What we’ve combined is a combination of that handle with a harness strap. You pretty much have every deer drag on the market in one product for small and large game. You can use it all year long.

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

Christine, how are you involved in the business?

I help hand out pamphlets. I help support him.

We’ve been a year in business. The customer response has been great. This business is front end loaded. There’s a lot of stuff to kill a deer, the fancy outfits, but there’s not enough information on how to protect yourself or how to prepare after you kill that wild game. That’s what our whole business is going to be based on making the process after the kill a lot easier, more efficient, and easier on individual hunter as well as if you’re working as a group.

WTR Grandview | Shooting Sports

There we have it, Multus 2019 at ATA with Joe and Christine. Thank you so much.

Thank you.
