ATA Day 1 – 3: .30-06 Outdoors
This is Bruce Hutcheon at ATA 2019. I’m at the 30-06 booth with Richard Gould. Richard, what’s happening at 30-06?
There’s a lot of new stuff here. We’ve got a new line of stabilizers, releases, quiver and some new camera pattern for quivers and stabilizers.
What’s so special about your company?
What’s special about 30-06 Outdoors is that we try to get good quality products out there on the market for not a wallet-busting price. That’s pretty much been the saying at 30-06 since I’ve been working there with Matt Minshall.

What’s new for the ATA show in 2019?
We brought our new Evo Stabilizer. We’ve got a couple of new releases. We’ve got the Emoji Release. We’ve got the Reload Release. The Emoji Release comes with a couple of different color options. We’ve also got new this year our Mustang Ultra Compact Release. It’s pretty much the same as our regular Mustang Compact but just ultra-light, just a smaller caliper head or dual caliper head, nice leather strapping. That’s another new product there. We’ve also got our Evo stabilizer. It comes in a few different colors. We’ve got the snow camo and muddy girl. We’ve also got plain black, carbon fiber black and our dirt road camo for our sister company, Native.
How important is a stabilizer?
A stabilizer is very important. If you don’t have a stabilizer on your bow, you could feel the instability from your shot. You got to have weight forward if you want to make a good balanced shot and take down the recoil from your shot, so your shot is a lot more accurate in that aspect as well.
How do people reach you on social media?
We’re on Facebook, 30-06 Outdoors. I believe we’re on Twitter and Instagram too. I don’t have those accounts, but I do believe that we are on there and as well as our sister company, Native Outdoors. We do have 30-06Outdoors.com and then we have NativeGroundBlinds.com as well.
Anything you’d like to add?
If you’re at the ATA show, go ahead and swing on by the Native Ground Blinds booth, 1439 or 30-06, 1443. If you got any question, we’d love to answer them or if you want to sit here and shoot the crap, we’d love to do that too.
Thank you so much, Richard.
Thank you.
It’s been fun here at ATA 2019.
ATA Day 1 – 3: Scent Kapture
I’m with Troy Kloewer from Scent Kapture. Troy, what’s so special about Scent Kapture?
Scent Kapture is a proprietary blend of products that helps encapsulate and eliminate odor on contact, whether that’s airborne or surface. A lot of people ask us, “What makes you different than the others?” That’s what I would say is that our odor encapsulating technology that we infuse in our field spray, which is our workhorse, we put it in an eight-and-a-half-ounce bottle so hunters can take it with them. It creates a nice cloud to go out and seek those odors, encapsulate and eliminate those on contact. We put it into a system with laundry, hair, and body, and then our powerful field spray. We also have a unique item after the hunt, so you can clean up when you clean an animal or get done with your hunt and your hands are bloody or messy.
We’ve got a blend of products that help the hunter and it sets us apart from the other ones in the red bottle, orange bottle and things like that. We just encourage you to give it a try. We’ve been out for about five years. We’ve been at ATA for three years now and we’ve had great results and a lot of involuntary responses from our customers and how much they like it and how much they’ve gone undetected in the woods. Something new that we have this year and last year is our Scent Kapture field body wipes. These are 30-pack of wipes, resealable package, and the best part about this is this is bio biodegradable. These things will break down and go away. You don’t feel like you’re leaving a footprint in the woods. These have been very handy in cleanup and also preparation before you go out into the field. In order to give this a try, you can go to ScentKapture.com. You can sure stop by or select a list of retailers that we have, and we are encouraging people to put it on their shelves as well as individual hunters to give it a try. Stop by at ATA or check us out on all our social media at Scent Kapture.
Tell me about your social media, where you at.
Instagram, Facebook and we’ve got thousands of followers there and we’ve had a really good response. You’ll see some of the success that we’ve had and our customers have had. We ask you to check us out, link with us and give us your story after you’ve tried Scent Kapture.
If you don't have a stabilizer on your bow, you could feel the instability from your shot. Share on XI tried Scent Kapture and I tried a lot of products. I stayed undetected because I use products not only his but other products that work. If you’re not paying attention to your scent, then you’re missing the mark. You’re costing yourself mature bucks. I’m not saying younger bucks, but mature bucks. You’ve got to watch that Scent Kapture. How does Scent Kapture help you minimize your scent signature?
It comes down to the preparation. When we talk to people at these outdoor shows, you have people that are very highly sensitive to scent, which months before they start using our hair and body wash. They use our laundry, they put their clothes that have been laundered in a scent free container. Then as we work our way out to our tree stand or spraying down with our field spray and we want people to take this with them and continue to use it even into their stand. It’s based on a system and it’s based on continuous usage. Other companies that have tried Ozone and things like that, those are helpful but Scent Kapture can go right out into the woods with you and keep you undetected and odorless.
I’m excited to see what’s going to come up. Thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule here at ATA 2019 to join with Whitetail Rendezvous and talk about Scent Kapture.
We appreciate your sport, Bruce.
ATA Day 1 – 3: Yeti
I’m with Thacher Stone from YETI. Thacher, what is so special about the YETI brand?
YETI is a fantastic company. We were born in the outdoors by two brothers that founded the company, Roy and Ryan Seiders, deeply ingrained in the hunting and fishing community. YETI was largely born out of frustration where Roy and Ryan Seiders were using coolers as casting platforms and as meat lockers after hunts and stuff like that. Everybody has had that previous experience where they’re cooler failed on them, where a handle broke or maybe the ice melted out, etc. Roy and Ryan found a niche in that product and they created the YETI Tundra, which is a staple of the YETI line. YETI was born out of frustration and built by hunters and fishermen for hunters and fishermen. It has expanded into everyday use for more and more people.
I’m a whitetail guy. I’ve got a huge following at Whitetail Rendezvous. What’s a whitetail guy or gal will be needing in their truck or in their camp from YETI?
First off, a YETI staple for any YETI user would be the Tundra, which is our marquee product, our first product that we had here and a part of the brand. I’ll give you a glimpse at the Tundra 45. It’s the traditional hard cooler. The rubber t-latches to keep everything nice and secure. If you open it up, you’ll see a fat wall design here with insulation in between these large walls and insulation in the top of the cooler as well. Each cooler does come with a basket. You can store more fragile goods in the cooler as well as a little slot here. It has a divider that you can insert there. If you want to divide some meat in either side of the cooler.
These coolers are available in many different sizes, ranging anywhere from $200 onward up to $1,300 for the bigger sized coolers. Definitely, the YETI Tundra is a staple to have for any hunter regardless of species. You definitely want a YETI Tundra in the back of your truck, whether you’re hauling food or if you’re working in the offseason. If you’re doing some work on tree stands or if you’re out plotting food, and stuff like that or getting ready for your hunting seasons. The YETI Tundra is a staple to have, whether you’re dressing an animal and filling the cooler with meat or if you’re out working in the field and getting ready for your hunts.
This is a staple product. What other new product YETI has?
Another product is the Hopper Flip. This product is an extension of our soft cooler series. This product is a really cool item, a little more portable than the Tundra that all of our fans have come to know and love. This product is a soft cooler. It does have insulation on the inside. It will keep everything nice and cool and fresh as long as you needed it to. This zipper is extremely durable. It’s what we call the hydro lock zipper. It’s going to keep everything inside. No moisture is going to come outside even if you’re in warm heat, etc. The inside here has an anti-microbial liner. Your goods are going to stay as fresh as possible for as long as possible. On the outside here, you’ll notice that this exterior is abrasion-resistant and puncture-resistant.
You can drag it around, throw it around in the back of the truck. It’s not going to get punctured. You’re going to have ultimate trust in your products when you’re out and need them the most. This is the Hopper Flip 12. It’s also offered in a Hopper Flip 8 size, which is a little bit smaller as well as a Hopper Flip 18, which is a little bit larger than this, depending on your load. Definitely a good one to have when you’re on the go, whether you’re going from the truck to a more remote base camp or set up hunting station or to and from the house to wherever you need to go. It’s going to keep your goods as fresh as possible for as long as possible.
How do people find you on the web?
Visit YETI.com. We have everything from our products there. We have a cool section of our website that’s dedicated to films and you can learn more about our ambassador teams.
What about your cups? Everybody in the world has cup, hunters, fishermen, it doesn’t matter.
Anybody can use a cup in any scenario. One thing to keep in mind about our cups or our drinkware is that it’s good for either hot beverages or cold beverages. No matter what you want to put in there, just remember that it’s an insulated item and you can put hot or cold liquid in. A particular item, the Rambler 20 is shown in a brand-new color for us at ATA 2019. It’s the sand color way and they’re available in a variety of different colors from traditional stainless steel, sand, brick red, black, green, etc. You can customize these as well. If you go to YETICustomShop.com and you have an original design, say your initials or maybe it’s a graphic that you’ve made for a business. You could throw your logo right on here and you can customize that for just $10 additional costs onto what the cost of each rambler is. Various sizes in these as well, hot or cold liquids, quite literally you will have ice for as long as science will allow. You can leave a hot cup of coffee in your truck, go out to your tree stand, come back hours later and still have a piping hot cup of coffee. These things are amazing. It’s definitely a great addition to our lineup.
You got to have weight forward if you want to make a good and balanced shot. Share on XWhat about maintenance? Is there anything we have to do as users to maintain the quality of YETI?
If you do store in your cooler or if you’re putting raw meat in there, we suggest cleaning it out with soap and water. Just regular maintenance on the gasket system. If you ever have any gunk or anything build up in there, definitely clean it out with soap and water. On the interior of this product, if you do put any direct meat into here or something like that, we definitely suggest cleaning it out. Although this is an antimicrobial surface, so no mold or anything will build up in there. We also offer a zipper lubricant that you can put on the zipper here to make it a little bit easier to open. We definitely suggest using that and keeping this zipper as fresh as possible because this is the most fragile point of this very tough cooler. Our products are built for the wild, built for your most remote locations and Mother Nature’s harshest conditions.
Thank you for that and again, tell people how to get ahold of YETI.
Please feel free to reach out to YETI.com. Thanks for coming by.

About .30-06 Outdoors
.30-06 Outdoors was formed in 2007 by company owner and founder Matt Minshall. After 20 plus years in the retail end of the industry at his families Archery and Fishing store Matt was ready to try something different. Not wanting to leave the outdoor industry that he knew so well, he decided on the manufacturing side of the industry. Matt sold his beloved fishing boat and some of his musical equipment to raise some startup capital. He then cleaned out his garage and stocked it with the first round of product. As we all know 2008 was the beginning of one of the worst economic times this country has ever seen, but .30-06 Outdoors managed to survive through it and grow. In 2011 .30-06 Outdoors moved into a 5000 sq ft office/ warehouse space. After 3 more expansions, more room was still needed. In 2014 Matt was blessed enough to purchase the entire 47,000 sq ft building that was previously rented. .30-06 Outdoors now has product placement in 10 countries on 3 continents.
The success of the company is attributed to Matt’s faith, hard work, and long hours. This paired with the dedicated team along by his side of Scott Nice, Richard Gould Jr., D. Flaherty, Bill Brooks, Amy Faulkner, and Tim Gillilan. Providing customers with the best customer service in the industry, and being at the forefront of product innovation. We feel that bringing quality products at an affordable price to the customer is what keeps us growing.
Our goals for the future are to grow into the most complete manufacture of Hunting/Sporting Goods in the Outdoor industry. We intend to accomplish this by adding new items to our product line each year. Not just any items, but innovative, useful items that will be a must-have for all sportsmen and women. We will also hold true to our roots in bringing those items to market at the best price possible. Our price will bring them in, but our dedication to quality products at an affordable price and our top notch customer service will keep them coming back.
About Scent Kapture
In 2012, a casual conversation during a family Christmas dinner lead to the creation of his innovative scent elimination company called Scent Kapture. With the help of Troy’s business background, he and his brothers began researching new technology in scent elimination liquids. After extensive research, they formulated a proprietary blend of ingredients that eliminates odors on contact.
After three years of testing and recording feedback from liquids professionals and experienced hunters, they refined their formulas to be one of the best working scent elimination products in the outdoor industry. They have developed a full line of liquids for hunters that encapsulate and eliminate a wide array of odors.
About YETI
Growing up, my brother and I always had a passion for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, traveling to outdoor industry trade shows with our teacher-turned-entrepreneur-father. We were raised with an appreciation for the wild game, unfamiliar territory, and high-quality gear.
But the coolers available at the time just weren’t up to our outdoor adventures – the handles would break, the latches would snap off, and the lids would cave in. Not only was it a hassle to replace our coolers after each season, but also these cheaply built, ordinary ice chests were limiting our good times. And that frustration led us to a solution.
In 2006, we founded YETI Coolers with a simple mission: build the cooler we’d use every day if it existed. One that was built for the serious outdoor enthusiast rather than for the mass-discount retailers. One that could take the abuse we knew we’d put it throughout in the field and on the water. One that simply wouldn’t break. We decided early on that product innovation would come from necessity and firsthand experience – not from market research and data analysis. Today, YETI products perform when it matters most – whether that be an excursion into the remote Alaskan wilderness, chasing redfish on the Gulf coast, or just getting together with friends in the backyard.
