Calculated Killers  tells all:

Early Season Prep

This is the biggest key to me on chasing that mature buck. Stand placement, food plots, wireless trail cameras, etc. Sometimes I think I enjoy the work up to the hunt more than the hunt itself.

Mapping, terrains

Where the Calculated team hunts in the mountains of WVA, NC, and Virginia using maps to figure out deer movement is a must.

When you hunt endless acres of timber you have to be able to find the pinches, draws, and funnels to be successful. By learning how to read topo maps you can really power scout a property from 3 hrs. away.

The Adventure

Hunting to me is all about the adventure, and friendships made along the way. That’s what gets me out of bed at 4am to chase that illusive mountain buck is the adventure of it all. Seeing new places, new deer, new friends all part of the adventure.

  1. Hunting mature bucks on private/land
  2. Holding mature bucks on your land.
  3. Importance of knowing your neighbors
  4. Being a 365 day a year hunter
  5. How you prepare for the hunting season – practicing with your bow, stand sets, Hing cutting, shooting lanes, boots and clothes
