What was it, last year we were doing a show on the Pursuit Channel called Generation X, that’s where eight teams compete to win it. Mike Grandstaff founder Whitetail Stalker  We’re in a spot for the 2017 season, we came in real close but another team won the thing. And so other than that we’re still videoing hunts and trying to silence the thunder we like to say and put some turkeys on the ground and we’ve got a few guys they’ve got a couple down already. Unfortunate for me I stuck on here probably a little over a week ago and I couldn’t find him. But yeah, we’re just keeping our heads down and doing our thing. And that’s how we like to do it. Yeah, just keep it on and keep it ready

Yeah, just keep it on and keep it ready. And it’s on standby and luckily enough I knew he was coming so I just turned it on and finally he made his appearance and then I hit record and I pretty much got all of it on film. There are some downfalls to doing it by yourself in a ground blind the pillars of the windows and stuff if he gets in the right spot and your framing where I’m shooting and where he was at, the pillar of the window blocked the shot, on the second shot I actually got two shots on this turkey. So I was kind of [inaudible 00:03:45] but that’s real life when you don’t have a camera guy. Mike Grandstaff founder Whitetail Stalker

He kind of surprised me because he came in, he went all the way around me and then come back in from behind me. And he comes strutting in there in that window view and of course I’m already recording it because I hear him over there making a little bit of noise, clucking or whatever they do.

I got another arrow nocked

And so I hit record before I ever seen him. And so he made his appearance in there and as soon as he got out there to that thunder chicken, funky chicken, I knew he was at 15 yards. It was a chip shot and I sit there and I made sure my carbon broadhead was going to clear the tent and I got to looking through my sights and I lost track of where my broadhead was going to exit the tent and lo and behold I shoot right there by the zipper for window I shot the edge of it, and I still clipped the turkey and he jumped up and ran out probably about five feet and then he starts skirting out to the north of me away from me, and by the time I got another arrow nocked and got the shot off, he was probably 30, 35 yards. That’s where practice comes in when you’re shooting your bow. I never had time to range him because he was on his way out. And so I predetermined that that yardage was probably 30, 35 yards so I used my 30-yard pin I drilled him and if you’ve hunted turkeys long enough with archery tackle, and people can tell you this, that you have a very small kill window. It’s probably about the size of a cup in there, maybe just a little bit bigger to get the lungs and the heart. But yeah, I think what I did is I hit just right where his drumsticks are and it was a complete pass through had blood and it had some fatty tissue some skin, feathers, I thought it was a slam dunk.
