Over twenty years ago, the concept of giving something back to mule deer was a dream of Emmett Burroughs (pictured below). As Emmett traveled around the country, hunting and filming mule deer, he realized that many of us take this awesome species for granted. Rachel Voss 1 MDF & Prois
Think about what the world was like in 1988. Mule deer had been extremely abundant; right up until the winters of 1983-84. Across the West, the record snowfall lingered long into spring and early summer. Many mule deer and black-tailed deer perished; mostly starving for lack of food covered by snow and from cold temperatures. Rachel Voss 1 MDF & Prois

As a little girl I never once said ” I want to dedicate my life to conservation of our Mule Deer”. At some point in my life, I found my true passion! Conservation is my world, the feeling of giving back is something you just can’t describe. Rachel Shelly Voss MDF & Prois
The sight of a Mule Deer standing in an open field, cresting a ridge line, or swiftly stodging away to their safety zone never gets old. I can’t help but think each time I see them: I’m working to save you…one deer at a time! Besides teaching, blogging, and being a voice in conservation I love any opportunity to teach others, and educate them about anything outside.
Empowering other women to follow their dreams
I have a strong love for the education of women and youth in the outdoors. Empowering other women to follow their dreams, and instilling in them that they can overcome the typical stereotype and THEY CAN INDEED do the same thing that men do and thrive at it! Youth; our glue that holds our hunting, fishing and outdoor heritages together.
They are our conservation future! Properly educating them on safety, shooting, ethics, and respect for our outdoors is the single most important thing any one of us can offer. The mountain tops and the waters edges are my happy spots; my heaven on earth.
“It is in the still silence of nature where one will find true bliss”
