The 3 things that Jim is passionate about are: hunting, habitat management and logging the hunts.

Born and raised in Missouri, Jim grew up hunting whitetails, turkeys and rabbits and then eventually got exposed to waterfowl. Jim primarily hunts whitetails and ducks in the fall and then turkeys in the spring. He owns a 150-acre farm in northeast Missouri and has done everything they can to improve the habitat since it was purchased.

They enrolled a portion in CRP and converted it from a rescue to one of the more intensive and quail-friendly CRP practices (CP4D). They have put in approximately 10 acres of food plots spread across 8 different fields and have done edge feathering and TSI as well. In the 8 years that they have owned the farm, they have really transformed it.

Jim’s professional career has focused on technology, the internet and web marketing having worked on accounts such as Winchester Ammunition over the past 15 years. Now, Jim is taking his professional skills and career experience and combining that with his outdoor passions to create OutdoorMetrix.

OutdoorMetrix is a web-based logbook and analysis dashboard for hunters…especially deer hunters. Jim started OutdoorMetrix with the mission to help hunters and wildlife managers become smarter and more effective in the outdoors by leveraging the power of data and analytics. You use OutdoorMetrix to map, track, log and record your hunts. Then they summarize your hunt log data for you into dashboards, charts, and tables of metrics to help you review and analyze your hunting progress and efforts. So far, they have recorded more than 260 hunts on the farm going back to 2007.

On the grander level, they are trying to give hunters the power of database analytics so they can be smarter hunters.  This is your personal/private logbook and dashboard – nobody else will see your log data unless you show it to them.
